I thought it might be useful to have one of these here to post non-essential information.

For starters, I now have a Pre-Op appointment for my shoulder scheduled for the 17th of January (much sooner than I expected it to be). The surgery itself should be scheduled for a week or two after that, but I won't know until I go to the Pre-Op assessment first. I'll let you all know what happens.

Here's hoping your shoulder is okay and requires the most minimal possible intervention.

I second that!

And I have a question. I've never done a play by email game before. How does that work?

Thank you. I hate hospitals and having surgery, but I need to get this done. <sigh> I appreciate the thoughts.

I posted info about it in the Welcome thread, but here's the relevant bit about how the PBEM is supposed to work...
PBEM Info

Turns will be emailed weekly (barring unforeseen circumstances). That is, once a week (probably the weekend), I'll post the main Turn. During the week, we do character actions and whatnot, then summarise at the end of the week to include in the new Turn for the next week. It should be open enough to allow more or less time to advance the game, and I know real life often gets in the way, so I'm not going to worry about 'absolute' deadlines. However, if the game starts to lag, I reserve the right to move things along as necessary. This is, of course, all subject to change as necessary once we find a good rhythm for everyone. If we all have some time on our hands and the scenes move quickly, great! If not, we slow it down to let everyone have a chance to contribute.
We've had some discussion about how else this would be done, as far as posting the new Turns on this forum and/or using Google Docs (which I am liking how that works out, btw). Right now, I am working on some preludes for some of the characters via email and Google Docs that should bring them all together (at least for a little while) for the 'official' start of the game.

Ok, I'm an idiot for having missed it. Thank you Rhak.

I'm finding Working via Google Docs pretty cool.

Me too! It makes it so easy to keep track of the whole sequence. Emails themselves would have to be pieced together.

I am finding Google Docs quite useful, and in combination with the GDocs Drawings, it has a lot of potential.

Been very hectic the past few days. Hopefully I can catch up with the preludes a little later today...

Okay, Google Docs is pretty awesome! It has a built in Chat feature if more than one person is signed into the document at the same time. All viewers are automatically in the same chat at once.

By clicking on the notice on the top right (►1 other viewer), a chat box opens down the right hand side of the document. It makes for a very useful tool.
