1. First, its nice to see it's actually Texas Chili rather than the bean and beef stew that many people call chili.

2. With the amount of heat in that base, a bit of sweet to balance it really isn't a bad idea.

3. I would have added a couple habaneros to it and really kicked up the heat.

4. For god's sake toast the peppers outside! Get them a hair to hoot and you effectively have pepper sprayed everyone in your house! (Not that I speak from experience or anything.)
