Default Campaign Notes

The campaign began in the merchant city of Critfumblia, ruled by the elder lord Starhawk. (He may make an appearance at some point, roleplayingwise.) Starhawk is an elder but retired high elf warrior-mage. Other forumites will make an appearance from time to time.

You are in a part of the world where elves predominate. The mix is about 2/3 human and 1/3 elves, and a smattering of other races. Critfumblia is not a wretched hive of scum and villainy, but it has a thriving black market, and a number of colorful underworld personalities. The general understanding of the city is live and let live, but don't get too bloody about it, and don't get too greedy. Occasional scours and purges happen when a criminal starts to fancy himself King of the City. There is a series of twelve corpses hung from the north wall of the city containing skeletons: five humans, two elves, one halfling, a large orc, a gnome, a dwarf and a strange skeleton nobody can quite identify. The joke amongs the criminals and smugglers is, "Thirteen is not a lucky number." Or someone might nod toward someone, and say, "He's aiming to be number thirteen." The underlying message is obviously, don't get too big for your britches.

The area around Critfumblia is thick, lush wilderness with well-traveled and generally well-protected roads. North about fifty miles is the elven capital of Elgarest, sometimes known as the Grey Havens. It is the docking yard and ship-building capital of the seas, and the home of the elven navy. The elven capital of Gondolin is a few hundred miles to the east.
