Default The Book of Wisdom of the Hidden Path, Excerpted and Translated

The Book of Wisdom of the Hidden Path
(Excerpted and Translated Anonymously)

On Your Heritage

...The Shining one feared your parents
Sent them to The Underdark
She gave in to his plans
We turned against each other
Just as he intended...
[Several stanzas Indecipherable]
...they hunt us still

Weakened by the mystical rays
Of his chariot
As he rides it
Laughing

[Pages missing]

...and in The Holy Dark we grew
Strong,
Organized,
Disciplined.

They sought to cast us
Into darkness
To weaken
Us.

We emerge from
Mother's womb
To dominate,
As is our destiny.

The Legacy of Darkness

The Initiate
The strong eat the weak.
As in the egg sac
Only some may emerge
To live
And spin...

The Apprentice
The web is strung
One strand at a time.
Forged in the crucible
Of Selection,
To serve.

The Envoy
Deliver the threads
To anchor points.
Grow in strength.
Bring knowledge
So the colony may
Feast on the unwary.

The Ambassador
Reflecting purpose,
Expanding vision,
Diverting inquiries,
Until [indecipherable]...

The Hidden One
Awaits the unwary,
Guides the colony,
Feeds them from those
Guided to us.

Our Tools

We destroy our enemies,
Dissolving or dismembering
To make them
More digestible.
But we torture them
For information first.

Use your creativity.
Find what will
Hurt most.
As one tender part
Is touched,
The hidden will reveal
Themselves.

When you cannot torture
And completely consume,
Use The Hidden Way.

Attack from hiding
To hurt.
Hurt progresses to injury,
Injury to maiming,
Maiming to weakness,
Weakness to death.
At death, our enemy's strength
Joins with us.
We honor our enemy in death
With [translation unsure: delicious smoky spicy sweet barbecue?]

The Staff
The tree's roots push downward
Derive strength
From the deep.
We stand as strong as the tree
Our wooden divining rod
Reveals our enemies'
Thoughts
Or at least
Their brains.

Blades
Strength from the Darkness
Combine with our will
To part the flesh
And spill the blood.
To eviscerate
And spill the guts
For burning,
But not the lungs
Or throat
Unless we need [translation unsure: delicious smoky spicy sweet barbecue?]
Or if we lack privacy
And time
To listen to delicious screams
Of confession.

The Net
Like the spider's web,
It slows our enemy
For bladed [translation: tenderizers (poison?) and
For later [translation unsure: delicious smoky spicy sweet barbecue?]

The Hand Crossbow
Deliver a sting
From a distance.
Slow your enemies.
But not from so far
That you look
Like a [Definition Uncertain: Small Cat?]

The Buckler
Represents versatility
And compromise
Between equals.
Separates
Stew
From fire,
Foe
From flesh.
Also good
For bashing heads.

The Garrotte
For silent killing.
You thought you would
Choke him quietly
With
Bare hands?
Don't be stupid.
You are not
An animal.
Use a tool.

(With thanks and sincerest apologies to the inspiration for this parody to Master Stephen K. Hayes. Please don't kill me.)
